In the space between land and sea a world of escape, social subversion and reinvention ebbs and flows with the tide. Set in the imaginary seaside world of Morlais, Gorjys explores the themes of Identity, beauty, influence – conformity and liberation.
It is a powerful yet funny contemporary circus piece
Over the past two years, with support from Arts Council of Wales funding, we have worked on developing the ideas and performance model for this production and sharing them with audiences.
Drawing on our experience with community partnerships formed during successful Community Co-creation projects including Lleu-Goleuo Gwynedd we have been developing our model of inclusive performance.
Over the summer of 2026 we will produce a central performance event, which includes the show in a circus tent and a community arts festival in Glynllifon Park in September, which brings together aspects of our seaside world, created through a series of satellite projects, with professional artists and community members.
The first of these is at Plas Glyn-y-Weddw on 20th June, where we will have music, stilt characters and a circus aerial performance in the amphitheatre.
Cimera are a Contemporary Circus Theatre Company from North Wales.
Like our namesake the impossibly dazzling hybrid Chimera of Greek Mythology we are a company of many parts. We bring together artists from diverse performance and design traditions to experiment and realise our vision to create a unique artistic voice for North Wales. We create work that is powerful, anarchic, comic and dark in both Welsh and English.
