COED COEXIST: Fruitful Bodies - Movement Session with Simon Whitehead

10:00-13:00

The coast of Wales holds one of the richest lichen ecosystems in Europe, in the Plas woodlands we will walk to find, touch, peer at, spend time with and draw these ancient lifeforms.

Lichens are made of different organisms that collaborate, they attach lightly to trees and rocks and they move slowly, forming symbiotic communities that thrive in damp and light conditions.

Inspired by this lichen life we will play with the possibilities of being together through ‘stretchy’ movement practices, collaborative and playfully lichen-like, using the ‘elastic bands’ from the' Fruitful Bodies’ score, which is part of the Coed Coexist exhibition.

We will spend this session outdoors on the Plas’ site, woodlands and lawns.
