Soil as Art: Sculptural Clay Seed Bombs

Join local clay artist Gabriella Rhodes for a morning making a clay seed bomb creature, celebrating the pollinators and soil-dwelling critters that keep Pen Llŷn's wild places alive.
We'll begin with a short walk through Plas Glyn-y-Weddw's gardens, looking closely at the bugs, blooms, and soily habitats around us. Back in the shelter, you'll design and shape what you noticed into your own clay creature made from local clay, peat-free compost, and native wildflower seed, generously supplied by Celtic Wildflowers.
Take your creature home and, once dry, plant it in a sunny spot in the garden, and watch as it slowly returns to the earth — leaving behind a small patch of wildflowers that support local biodiversity. Blodeuwedd Owl Workshop

Step into the magical world of Welsh legends and discover the story of Blodeuwedd, the maiden created from flowers who turned into an owl. After learning a little about the legend of Blodeuwedd, children and their parent or carer will create a Blodeuwedd-inspired owl, bringing it to life through colour, imagination, and creativity.
The hope is that no two owls will be exactly alike, making this a wonderful opportunity to spend time together while discovering one of Wales's most enchanting legends.

Mask Making

Natural Fabric Dyeing

In this workshop, participants place natural materials onto a canvas sheet, then steam it for 20 minutes to create beautifully dyed fabric. The process can also be applied to tote bags and socks.

Wire + Foil 3D Sculptures

Weaving

Weaving a Coaster / Bookmark:
In this weaving workshop, participants will delve into a traditional Welsh craft that continues to play a key role in the Welsh textile industry. Using laser-cut weaving frames, you'll create small textile pieces from scrap fabric and yarn. This hands-on session offers the opportunity to craft items like a bookmark or coaster-sized work.
