Join well-known local author and poet Anni Llŷn for an interactive workshop that will help bring spooky, chilling or mysterious stories to life.
Anni Llŷn is a renowned local author and poet who has dedicated her career to inspiring young minds. Known for her infectious energy and playful approach to storytelling, Anni makes writing accessible, lively, and most importantly - fun.
Anni will guide the children through the creative process in Welsh, using a fantastic mix of tasks - including creative warm-ups to spark big ideas, speaking activities, character development, and collaborative group storytelling to weave spooky tales.
There will be time for every child to create their own chilling masterpiece to take home with them.

Unleash your child's dark side, in the most creative way possible! As part of our Green Halloween celebrations at Plas Glyn y Weddw, join talented artist Jŵls Williams for an exciting, hands-on art workshop focused on inventing Creatures of the Night.
From nocturnal owls and shadowy bats to fantastical monsters lurking in the woods, children will use their imaginations using a rich blend of painting, printmaking, and collage techniques. Working with scrap paper, reclaimed card, non-toxic paints, and using printmaking tools and techniques, young artists will experiment with textures, layering, and patterns to bring their mysterious nighttime beasts to life on paper.

Get ready for a spooktacularly October half term at Plas Glyn y Weddw!
As part of our Green Halloween celebrations, we are thrilled to welcome celebrated Welsh artist Luned Rhys Parri for a fun, hands-on eco-craft workshop designed especially for children.
Known for her iconic 3D, playful mixed-media works celebrating Welsh culture, Luned will guide young creators as they transform everyday recycled household materials into ferocious, funny, or fantastic Beast Faces!
Perfect for young eco-warriors and budding artists, this workshop blends imagination with an important environmental message: creating impressive Halloween art doesn't have to cost the Earth nor be made out of plastic! Children will learn clever techniques to cut, construct, and layer cardboard, packaging, and scrap to bring their unique monstrous masterpieces to life—ready to display at home or wear as part of a Halloween costume.
Halloween Workshop: Glowing Stones and a UV Woodland Foray

Celebrate Halloween with an evening of woodland discovery, creativity and Welsh folklore at Yr Oriel Fyw, Plas Glyn-y-Weddw.
Start by decorating a stone with a forest-inspired design - perhaps a leaf, mushroom, tree or woodland animal - using fluorescent paint. Then take a walk through the Winllan with UV torches to discover how plants and fungi appear in unexpected colours. Let’s see what we can find!
Gather in a circle to talk about the woodland as winter approaches and hear about Yr Hwch Ddu Gwta, the tailless black sow of Welsh folklore. Swap stones, place them within a marked area, and return to the circle before using your torch to find your own creation.
The last finder has a playful encounter with the black sow, and everyone receives a Welsh sweet treat and takes their stone home.

Join us for a relaxed morning combining environmental concern, Welsh language learning, and an unexpected mushroom-themed activity! Whether you are a fluent Welsh speaker, a complete beginner, or passionate about the planet, a warm welcome awaits you.
What to expect:
- Paned i'r Blaned: Connect with others through open conversations about environmental action, sustainability, and our local ecosystem.
- Practice your Welsh: An inclusive space to practice and use Welsh at any level, from learning seasonal vocabulary to chatting about the environment.
- Free tea and cake: Warm up with plenty of hot tea and delicious cakes on the house!
