Angela Davies Exhibition '(To the) Heart of the Matter'
This exhibition marks five years’ evolution in the artist’s practice, bringing together new works in sculpture, moving-image and painting. It has grown in collective story-gathering by the artist with the communities of Pen Llŷn about histories of salt smuggling, law breaking and local hidden networks and salt-storing caves.
These narratives have been a starting point for the artist to further explore salt as an organic sculptural material. Embracing fragility, the exhibition looks at the cycles of the sea, our bodily life-cycles and transformations. Through ecofeminist theory it uncovers environmental loss and longing, but also those spaces we make to seek healing or solace.
With performances and gatherings further activating the exhibition (To the) Heart of the Matter / At Galon y Gwir will evolve and change.
