Reports to: Plas Glyn-y-Weddw Curator and Marketing Officer

 

Background

Plas Glyn-y-Weddw, situated in Llanbedrog on the scenic Llŷn Peninsula, is an ideal venue to inspire both artists and audiences. As one of Wales' oldest galleries housed in a historic Victorian Gothic mansion, the venue offers year-round free entry and hosts a dynamic programme of contemporary and historical art exhibitions. Beyond its captivating architecture and serene woodland surroundings, including part of the Wales Coastal Path, PGyW remains committed to promoting Welsh artists and ensuring the arts are accessible and enriching for all.

FFYNNU is a 12-month pilot residency and engagement programme based at Plas Glyn-y-Weddw (PGyW) and across Pen Llŷn, that will explore how artists and communities can work together to understand and respond to climate change and climate justice in a rural and coastal context. 

Developed in partnership with Ecoamgueddfa Llŷn and funded by the Arts Council of Wales, FFYNNU offers the opportunity for Plas Glyn-y-Weddw and other sites across Pen Llŷn to be places for creative exploration, reflection and having a role in climate action.

 

Role Description

The FFYNNU Residency Marketing & Publicity Assistant will support Plas Glyn-y-Weddw’s Marketing Officer, Curator and Engagement Officer as well as the wider Plas Glyn-y-Weddw team in assisting with marketing and publicity of the entirety of the FFYNNU residency project. This role is vital in supporting the promotion and communication of the residencies, engagement and public programmes to a wide audience, working with artists, partners, mentors and stakeholders.

The Assistant will be based predominantly at Plas Glyn-y-Weddw but they may need to travel to other projects sites. It is possible that some of the work can be undertaken remotely.

This position is suited for a detail-oriented and proactive individual passionate about supporting the arts and cultural projects, ensuring creative visions are realised effectively.

 

Key Responsibilities

Marketing & Publicity 

  • Assist in developing and managing a specific marketing campaign
  • Creatively input into content creation
  • Support raising public and peer awareness of the artist residency programme throughout the project via social media, Plas Glyn-y-Weddw’s website, other online arts and non arts platforms
  • Assist in the scheduling and promotion of associated public programmes including coordination of booking and ticket sales.
  • Support the documentation of the project
  • Analyse data in understanding audience engagement
  • Help assimilate and translate online analytics

Communication

  • Work closely with project team including Marketing, Curator and Engagement Officer
  • Assist with communication between Plas Glyn-y-Weddw staff, partners, artists, project evaluator, press and project stakeholders
  • Assist with project updates, promotional materials and reports

 

Person Specification (Skills and Competencies)

Essential Skills

  • Knowledge of marketing strategies for the creative sector, including being familiar with relevant digital and social media platforms
  • Excellent digital skills
  • An efficient and clear communicator, both written and verbal, with a sensitivity to artistic collaboration
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail
  • Proficiency in project management tools and office software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace)
  • Fluent in Welsh language (spoken and written)

Desirable Skills

  • Experience working in an arts or cultural organisation
  • Familiarity with ensuring promotion and marketing meets access standards
  • Has full driving licence and access to a vehicle

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: A degree or diploma in arts administration, arts marketing or a related field is preferred but not essential
  • Experience: Prior experience in marketing and publicity in the creative sector, cultural event management, or similar environment.
