Gwyneth ap Tomos was born in Caeathro near Caernarfon in 1937.
Gwyneth ap Tomos and her husband, Dafydd, rescued Plas Glyn y Weddw in the last quarter of the 20th century when the building was saved from impending dereliction by their sheer determination, and was once again opened as a public gallery. As a tribute to Gwyneth and Dafydd, one of our exhibiting galleries has been named 'Oriel ap Tomos’ and we have a permanent exhibition illustrating the renovation work and opening the gallery.
Sadly, Gwyneth passed away in 2016 after a long battle with cancer. She is warmly remembered here at the Plas, not only for her labour of love in re-establishing the gallery, but also as an artist and inspiring personality.
