Born in Surrey, Anne was always encouraged by her family to pursue a creative career and went to art college and loving detail, and creativity for a purpose, then went on to university to study BA (Hons) in Graphic Design.
After graduating Anne worked for a number of blue-chip companies in London and the southeast as a corporate design manager. Feeling that her work in the corporate environment was not as hands-on creative as she wanted, she began exploring the tactile and creative, but also precise and detail-driven, world of kiln-formed glass and stained glass.
Always more at home in the countryside rather than the city or suburbs, in the early 2000’s Anne took the opportunity to move to Llŷn peninsula to follow a more instinctive and creative career in glass. Self-taught in glass, Anne set up her studio on Pen Llŷn and built up a rewarding creative business designing and making kiln-formed and stained glass for personal and business commissions. Her work encompasses interiors, architecture, gifts, and the corporate sector, winning some large commissions, exhibiting glass in London and gaining some awards along the way. The unique local environment always informs her designs as she takes inspiration from the coast around her, particularly water.
During the lockdown of 2020, Anne returned to her first love of drawing and painting and filled her time transferring her creativity to oil painting and predominately pastels. Her work is influenced by the natural environment around her and particularly wildlife, still using her passion for detail, she paints expressive, well observed pastel paintings of the wildlife where she calls home.
Still working in glass, Anne is also developing her painting and has seen success as a finalist in the Explorers Against Extinction’s “Sketch For Survival” 2022 exhibition, has had paintings published in a book and is sought after for commissions.
Anne’s love of observing wildlife and her attention to detail can be seen in her expressive paintings.
