Estella originally trained as a painter, but in more recent years, since completing a Masters Degree in Fine Art in 2003, she has focused on various printmaking techniques and also artists books. She continues to exhibit and sell her work in solo exhibitions, as part of the Cheshire Artists Network, Outline Art, and as a member of the Regional Print Centre, Coleg Cambria. She has also been elected as a member of Manchester Academy of Fine Art.
Work is held in private and public collections as far away as Norway and Qatar.
Although she lives in Cheshire, much of her inspiration comes from walking in coastal locations in North West Wales, observing the eroding actions of wind and wave on rocks, breakwaters, ancient settlements and washed up beach debris. This provides a rich source of subtle colours, textures and ambiguous forms, their original shapes worn away almost to abstraction.
She prefers to let my observations linger in my memory for a while, to be further distilled and abstracted until shapes, colour and textural effects emerge onto paper as an essence of reality.
