Archie Miles - Heritage Trees of Wales
A selection of striking photographs by Archie Miles of remarkable trees included by him in his anthology of “Heritage Trees Wales” published in 2012. Each photograph has been framed in the same wood as the tree illustrated.
Archie Miles has been a professional photographer for over forty years, and began writing about twenty-five years ago. With an abiding passion for the British landscape, a natural progression over the last twenty years has seen him carve a specialist niche in the world of trees. He has written and photographed eight books on the subject and contributed images to many more books and publications. His 2013 monograph on “The British Oak”, went on to a second edition in 2016, the same year that “Treescape” – a special commission from Premier Paper Group was published. His latest work “ASH”, published in September 2018, is a monograph celebrating all aspects of the ash tree in Britain, before most of them succumb to ash dieback.
He has a comprehensive picture library containing over 50,000 tree photographs as well as related historical archive material.
Archie Miles will present an illustrated talk on his work, including the Heritage Trees of Wales, at 2pm, Sunday March 8th. Book a place by email firstname.lastname@example.org or phone the gallery 01758 740763.
“Heritage Trees Wales” is currently out of print – we hope this exhibition will encourage a reprint.
