Born in Aberystwyth across the road from the beach I have always been fascinated by the action of the elements on the rocks, pebbles and the discarded objects on the shoreline:the beauty of imperfection.
Although spending most of my working life in a totally different industry I continued to draw and make from a variety of materials. I discovered ceramics at an evening class ten years ago and was immediately hooked. So completely addicted in fact that I returned to Wales and did a ceramics degree at Camarthen School of Art where I now teach part time.
My work is always handbuilt and does not hide the marks which show how it was made. The material is not disguised either as I like to let the clay have a say in its form and texture. Often natural materials and found objects of intrigue are included in the form, the clay or the glazes to give the piece a sense of place and narrative.
