Robert Garforth Jones was born in 1953 and has been drawing and painting since he was a child.
Gaining a place at Bolton High School of Art was the start of his career in Art and Design. After qualifying in Art and Design at Bolton College in 1973, he worked for the Williams Munck Milliken Design Consultancy in Chelsea. He worked in London and the south coast of England for nearly five years, freelancing for Advertising Agencies providing design and Illustration work. 1979 he returned with his family to the North West of England, working mainly in the Manchester and the Cheshire areas as a commercial artist.
“On the Fine Art side, drawing and painting has always been my main hobby, along with gardening, the history of art, natural history, music and sport. Now at this stage in my career, I am able to devote more time to my painting and to appreciate the stunning beauty of Wales and the Rossendale Valley where we Iive.
For the best part of the next five years, I worked in London and the south coast of England, freelancing for Advertising Agencies providing design and Illustration work.1979 saw myself and my family return to the North West, continuing to work mainly in Manchester and the Cheshire areas as a Commercial Artist.
