I am strongly inspired to create art by the awe I experience from the dynamic energy and monumental features within the landscape. I want to hold onto this sense of wonder and share it, as I feel that this is the very stuff of life. I have always admired work that provokes this feeling of awe in me, and this fuels my ambition to achieve it myself.

The aspects of the environment and artworks that I am personally drawn to are intense contrasts in light[lgm1] , a balanced presence between order and chaos, the feeling of human impermanence and daunting wide spaces. These are the qualities that I strive to capture.

I am open to using a variety of media in an experimental way and I continually seek new and exciting mark making techniques to enhance the vitality and the individuality of my work .

Most recently I have been exploring using a palette knife with thinned down media.

The quest to answer my aesthetic need has led me to explore other genres of art. Life drawing has played a role in attaining the drawing skills needed to produce my landscapes I have now developed a passion for life drawing, I am prolific in making figure drawings, I am particularly interested in the reproduction of movement in the figure.

I Initially make a skeleton drawing from observing the main monumental features to give underlying structure, and act as a reference to obtain depth and perspective. I then add areas of ordered pattern, and more dynamic marks to produce a sense of movement, ensuring that there are quiet areas to give the eye a rest, and lead the viewers gaze through the composition.

The resulting work aims for energy and drama, and viewed from afar it forms a recognisable image. Closer inspection reveals that it is constructed from a series of abstract marks .The initial drawing structure lies underneath several layers of marks but is still discernible.

I have unstoppable motivation to make art, that finds me traveling on a never ending journey.
