Artist’s Statement

Exhibiting in the Main Hall Gallery will be Gwyn Roberts from Cardiff. Born in Llanrwst in 1953 Gwyn Roberts is also another artists who has years of artistic experience.

After studying Fine Art at Norwich and receiving his teaching certificate from Cardiff in the 1970’s he exhibited widely across Britain. He is a familiar face in the Art Pavilion at the National Eisteddfod, exhibiting on several occasions; where The Arts Council of Wales purchased one of his paintings on the recommendation of the prolific artist William Scott.

His use of oils are reminiscent of the late Kyffin Williams. His strong palette knife mark making may be similar, but Gwyn Roberts has a very different colour palette, using bright and bold tones that mirror his strokes.
