David Lloyd Owen was born in 1968 in Pwllheli where he attended Glan y Mor Secondary School before moving on to study a Foundation Course at Coleg Normal, Bangor. In 1992 he gained a BA degree in Fine Art from Manchester Polytechnic. David has been influenced by various artists from the sculpture of David Smith to the drawings of Ingres.
Most of David’s work deals with the accurate observation of the human figure, using sculpture or drawings to human scale.
“My current ideas bring me back to the early life drawing classes at Bangor and the reinforcement of academic ideals that demand truthful observation of the human form.”
