Aneurin M.Jones was born a farmer's son in the rural community of Cwm Wysg on the border of the old counties of Brecon and Carmarthen. He received his higher education at Swansea College of Art, where, from 1950 to 1955, he studied fine art; after graduation he spent two years with Celtic Studios, designing stained glass windows for churches in Britain, Canada and the United States. He was head of the Art Department at Ysgol Y Preseli, Crmych when it opened in September 1958 until July 1986.
The artist has ben a regular exhibitor at the National Eisteddfod, and whilst a student in 1954 was placed second for the gold medal awarded in the final art open competition. At Machynlleth National Eisteddfod he was awarded the major prize in the open competition for artists born or living in Wales.
In 1974 he was invited to take part in the Hawkmoor Exhibition of paintings based on the life and haunts of Twm Sion Cati / The Welsh Robin Hood and in 1978 he was the recipient of a Rotary Award for outstanding service to Art. In 1983 his work was included in a book based on the work of fifteen Welsh Artists.
