Artist’s Statement

John Baum from Anglesey, originally from the small village of Llanaelhearn in Gwynedd; John Baum has many years of artistic excellence under his belt. He studied at the Slade School of Fine Art, London between 1960 and 1964, winning the David Sylvester and drawing prize in his first year. At the young age of 47 he became the Head of Art at Coleg Menai, Bangor until his retirement in 1994.

He has exhibited widely across Britain, and his work can be found as far as Paris and the U.S.A. This will be the first time that John Baum has exhibited at Plas Glyn y Weddw. The show will consist of large acrylic paintings depicting his usual unique viewpoint of human life.
