The Friends’ Association was formed by Gwyneth and Dafydd ap Tomos in the 1980s to give support to the Gallery. It now numbers some 1200 members and is one of the largest associations of Friends of Museums and Galleries in Wales.
Being a voluntary organisation and a separately registered charity, our main aim is to help fund-raise for the Gallery. The Friends also support the promotion of exhibitions and play a very important supportive role as voluntary receptionists, gallery attendants, flower arrangers and gardeners.
Regular outings to other museums and galleries are also staged along with concerts and lectures in the Gallery. The Friends committee meets on a quarterly basis with 2 representatives also sitting on the Management Board of the Charitable Trust that runs the gallery on a day-to-day basis.
The Friends have been members of BAFM (British Association of the Friends of Museums) since 2000.
Why not spend £10 for an individual, or £14 for a joint (2 people living at the same address), membership to join this special body of friends. It will open up a wonderful world of opportunities as a friend of Oriel Plas Glyn y Weddw.
