Bronwyn Williams-Ellis was born in England to a Welsh family, and brought up in Ireland. She soon discovered an affinity with Wales and it was in Wales in 1975, after a BA in ceramics from Cardiff College of Art that she established her first studio and workshop where she made high fired large scale fireclay, gardenware and sculpture, while also working as a designer for Llechwedd slate products.
Ten years later, having completed an MA at Cardiff and a fellowship at Bath Academy of Art, she moved to Bath and set up a new workshop producing tiles and ceramic sculpture. She now lives outside Bath, but still retains a very strong foothold in North Wales. She is a member of the Royal Cambrian Academy.
