Penelope Timmis

Penelope Timmis has recently won the 'Society of Women Artists (SWA)' 'President and Vice President award' during their 150th exhibition in London.

Founded in 1855, the society has had a unique history dedicated to promoting art by women. The Annual Exhibition at the prestigious Mall Galleries, The Mall, London, SW1, showcases a stunning and eclectic mix of artwork in all media. The Society encourages variety and versatility and features some of the finest contemporary women artists from all over the world, thus sustaining a reputation for excellence.

Penelope Timmis lives in Shropshire very close to the Welsh border. She studied at the Froebel Institute in Roehampton and in Shrewsbury. After a long break to bring up her family, she returned to painting seriously, 10 years ago. Since then, she has had various solo and joint exhibitions and has sold regularly.

Now an established local artist, she is also exhibiting throughout Wales and the West Midlands. Penelope was short listed for the Daily Mail "Not the Turner" prize in 2004. Now an associate of the Society of Women Artists and The Royal Society of Birmingham Artists.

Penelope looks for colour and movement in all that she sees around her and this is reflected strongly in her work.Penelope Timmis lives in Shropshire very close to the Welsh border.
