Elfyn Lewis

Elfyn Lewis has exhibited in solo and group shows all over Wales and beyond. In 2009 Elfyn won the Gold Medal for fine art at the National Eisteddfod for Wales in Bala. In 2010 he was given the accolade of 'Artist oif the Year' in Wales. He has also has won various other awards throughout his career, including the Royal Cambrian Academy Young Contemporary Award.

In Elfyn's words: "Through my career I have developed a process-based abstraction that both references landscape and explores the medium of paint deeply......my work combines elements of chance, accident and non-conformity to suggest a sense of place or landscape while referencing names of actual places and people....the use of colour and textures come directly out of this process and so the paintings imply landscape at the same time as being media driven".

Elfyn was born and bred in the Porthmadog area but has lived and worked from the capital in Cardiff since the 1990's.
