Aled Prichard-Jones

Born in Bangor, I lived in Snowdonia unti I trained as an architect at Bath University. After initially working in Aberystwyth, my wife Mary and I moved with our family to Pembrokeshire where I worked as an architect until taking early retirement in 2000. Since then I have concentrated on painting the landscapes of Gwynedd which I have loved and walked since childhood.

Pastels are my preferred medium because they are so quick to use and with so many brilliant colours are ideal for trying to catch the fleeting effect of light and the ever changing mood and atmosphere of the rugged Snowdonia mountain landscapes. My paintings include familiar views of the Snowdonia peaks and coastline, wooded valleys and mountain lakes, as well as the more remote, but equally recognizable mountain summits.
