Guided walk

Guided walks will be led through the Winllan on Wednesday 6th June.

A walk will start from the Plas at 10.30am and another at 1.30pm.

The map shows the Winllan paths, an enlarged copy of the map can be seen on Plas Glyn y Weddw's leaflet which can be obtained at the reception desk.

There have been a number of developments in the woodland over the last months including the opening of a new car park. Development work on the amphitheatre commenced early in February (see above photograph) and the work should be completed before the end of June. Paths have also been opened to the public resulting in a circular walk being open in the woodland.

In 1896 a Cardiff entrepreneur named Solomon Andrews bought Plas Glyn-y-Weddw in the Madryn sale and turned it into a public arts gallery, thus transforming the locality into a tourism hot-spot.
The image is from circa 1905 showing one of the network of footpaths that covered the area of forest known locally in Llanbedrog as Winllan. You can see from this image the elevated position of the trails with Plas Glyn-y-Weddw to be seen in the background (middle right hand corner of the image)
