STATEMENT

"My paintings attempt to capture the essence and distillation of an experience. I use personal experience, memory and ideas to explore an intuitive and often abstracted visual language. My paintings are concerned with simplification, space and colour.

My artist's books fall into two categories: books that relate to the themes explored in my paintings, and books that are inspired by my travels. I am particularly drawn to the simplicity and intimacy that books can contain, it is possible to separate images, with or without text, to create a narrative similar to film. My books often contain an element of recording something that will never exist or happen again."
